Usda Beph:
No really I am... sorta.

I had a one off part that I needed to Polish. Polish is the final step for Cams & Cracks gives them a much more reliable surface with less friction and junk.

So I polished the part and I didn't inspect it before sending it to inspection for them to inspect it.Yeah thats right the parts are checked twice! My thinking was that if it were a few microns oversized I would repolish it. Happens more often than I like when I do 100% inspection. The inspection gage is a little more acurate than my gage. Well the fates were against me and the grinderhand had lied about inspecting the part. I didn't lie because I didn't sign off as inspecting the part you see. So when the part came back 200 microns oversized (about 9 thousandths of an inch). Thats alot in my world, I work with + 13 Microns.

So when I got questioned about what happened I explained what I did. You know the truth! That I didn't have a program to properly inspect the part, I had another hot job I was working on and needed to get back to, I three weeks and counting to close on a house or my family is living on the street and that my operation has 200% inspection for size. SO I took a gamble and lost.

Now the procedure either way is the part goes back to grind is reworked then sent back to me to be reworked, then sent back to inspection to be reinspected! Wether I caught it ot the inspector did.

So did I do something wrong? Yes. I did not follow the proceedure I created for my department. Am I trying to absolve myself of wrong? NO I openly admit I didn't do my job correctly. Did that change teh procedure of how it was to be fixed? No.

It was one cam out of tens of thousands a year. It was that one time I decided to go around the system I wrote. Should I get in trouble for it?... Yeah I should, Should it be big trouble? I don't think so, the part is now a good part as it would have been IF I had done my job the right way.

I have a coworker that is telling me to throw several other people under the bus, cause they did the same thing, to aviod getting in trouble myself. I don't work that way. I didn't do my job right. What they did doesn't reflect on my performance, It's how a roll. 8)

So in a few days I'll be having a hearing to detemine weather I get time off or not. I'll keep you posted. ;)

Chaotic Insane:
Ooooooh That's not going to end well if you get time off. You should request it to be on a Wednesday/Thursday so it's easier for me to go crash at someone else's house. o_0;;

They're SERIOUSLY giving you a hearing over that though? I've screwed up waaaaaaaaay worse at my job and only walked away getting scolded.

Usda Beph:
Most likely I am being charged because of the grinder hand who lied about the size of the part at his inspection. See for him to be punished anyone who didn't catch it will have to be punished also.If it is because of this, I'll be slapped on the wrist and sent my merry way.

Chaotic Insane:
Corporate semantics are annoying.

Usda Beph:
Oh the travisty of justice! I was sent back to work and given a written warning! ;D
