hot-sim being default on cyberdecks is mentioned on several pages across the book, but not once for rig control.

(it is also rather dangerous to be jacked in while in hot-sim if your fragile drone blow up)

I agree, I think it needs an errata (either include the sim mod as default or the availability codes need to be adjusted). While you're more exposed as a rigger (since matrix-sourced biofeedback and meat world drone Damage can cause physical injury in Hot-Sim), it's the same basic calculus of risk vs. reward.
