That's why the alternative interpretation (spending a Simple Action or Complex Action on something that isn't firing a weapon resets recoil) makes a lot more sense than the way people (including me) have been reading that rule.

Except that you can use a Simple Action to use Burst Fire, and a Simple Action to take aim, every Action Phase, and never ever have to suffer from recoil. My opinion on the whole thing is that the recoil rules are designed to encourage gun bunnies to have a second aspect of combat to their character, so they are a little more well-rounded. A character that has no other way to fight than "I shoot the guy every turn" is a seriously boring, one-dimensional character. Throw a punch or a grenade, FFS. Or at least Take Aim! One simple action can not only clear your recoil but also give you a +2 bonus on your next shot!

A more balanced house rule might be to allow the Simple Action to Take Aim to reduce your cumulative recoil by 1 rather than to add 1 to the next shooting test. This would allow the troll in the previous post to keep firing, without making every gun bunny overpowered and boring.

Cumulative Recoil, and if you use your second Simple Action or a Complex Action to fire, and then in your next Action Phase use your first Simple Action to fire, you'll still have cumulative Recoil on that Simple Action, as it occurs before your recoil resets.

Except that that's not a possible reading of the rule, because "for the entire action phase" has to modify either "an action" or "shooting." If Aaron's reading is the RAI then the rule needs to be rewritten. It cannot say what he says it says by the rules of english grammar (and his reading is itself supposed to be based on a strict reading).

Unless you have strength 4 or more (or get a weapon with build in recoil modifiers such as folding stock or whatnot) you will get -1 dice shooting BFs in a simple action due to recoil.

For 6 bullet FA simple actions you will get -4 dice unless you pack extra recoil modifiers.

It's actually quite doable to get 5 points of recoil compensation on weapons if you pick one that either comes with a stock or can have a shock pad, then add an R3 Gas Vent for 600¥ - add your Strength, and FA Simple Actions are easy.
