Hey Chummers :)

Working with a player on a Technomancer PJ, i had some questions raising in my mind that not really have found an answer, so i'm sure you can help me there !

First i was wondering how Technomancers use the AR. Does they need a display device or is this all about there minds, seeing the AR without any technology way, like an astral vision that superpose with the true reality ?

Second i was thinking about the direct link connexion exploit. Does a Technomancer can use a data jack and operate on a device that would be direct linked to him ?

And to be sure i have it, i assume that Technomancers can practice all Matrix actions (could be hard if not ^^)

Thanks !

1. In regards to AR, they can see it normally if I recall.

Can't answer the second, but the third is true. I'm assuming you're referring to a fifth edition Technomancer.

I think the solution for mancers to hack wired stuff is to daisy chain from their commlink, which they'll need because apparently they can't make a PAN, on top of not being able to save things to their brain.

Well using the comlink seems pretty impossible here, missing the Attack and Sneaze that would permit to apply a MARK for exemple.

So that would mean he need a Deck wich is a bit weird ^^ Possible but weird  ;D

But maybe the Technomancer can inject the living personna thru wired way and work with the device this way.
(Wich is weird too if we consider that the living personna is a permanent precence of the Technomancer into the Matrix)

Nothing in the SR5 technomancer rules seems fully thought out (FYI, at this stage, you really should specify whether you're asking about SR4 or SR5).  That said, if you were to connect a commlink to something you could use the commlink's wireless to bridge your living persona over - the same trick worked in SR4.  That's the best you're gonna get without reducing your Resonance until the Skinlink echo returns.  As for datajacks, they didn't exactly make it clear how those would interact with technomancer abilities.

Sorry, was talking of SR5 indeed.

I assume the comlink trick could work. Wiring it to the device and using your Living Personna on the comlink to do the job.

The problem i see here is that working on your comlink don't permit you to transfert a MARK to the device, and so transfert a MARK to the host (if we consider a WAN).

I remember we can't work on the device itself cause of the BIG host Firewall

At least we assume that a wired connection make a device auto slaved to the comlink wich i'm not sure at all. (And there is no action to force a PAN or WAN, or maybe spoof ?)

Not to say that a device seems not being able to be slave to a host, and a comlink. (wich attribute to choose)

Hard one ...

2) They can't.

Butthey can tell a device to use invite Mark.

I think i will definitly stick to that option.

And sure they can spoof an invite commande to a device but that mean that you still have to do with that Big host firewall :)
