That sounds completely unrealistic and likely based on their random info they grabbed from a random unreliable source really.

Yeah, never ever trust what retailers post about pre-release data, especially Amazon.

They often post straight made-up dates and prices.

Some of those prices are  :o Here's hoping they are big books.
The SR5 core book is pushing 500 pages. It'll drop a rhino.

Well small trolls are only small to big trolls. They're still 2 meters tall.

I'm not sure why all the distrust. I managed a game shop for a number of years, and I never felt Game Trade magazine was making stuff up like I've seen Amazon do. They got their info right from the companies, and they aren't retail, they are the distributors.

Opti: The distrust is mostly regarding this one:
SR 5 is $36 on Amazon, so that helps the cost of that one.
We don't know for sure whether those prices you quoted will remain or change, but we do know Amazon provides completely unreliable intel. So yours is a good guideline on what to expect. However, Amazon isn't, by far.

Amazon generates its prices procedurally, so one person will see one price and another will see another. You might even see different prices at different times. It's Amazon's way of getting those few extra percentage points of profit.

Have to admit, I'm not following the suspicion with Amazon and pricing.  I will get SR 5 at for most $36.  I've never had a problem with their pre-release guarantee and they have never upped the price on me.  In fact, they've lowered it.  Done it for SR5 as well a couple of times now.  If someone else has had a pre-order, which Amazon then upped the price on, I can't address that.

Now the date they show for release, that's clearly wrong.

I'm not that concerned about the uncertain date and price - my method is "wait until it's actually ready and released and then look at it", not to speculate wildly. I never seem to be wrong about its price and date with a method like that.

Also, is it horrible that mention of the Sybil virus made me think of this?

I'm going for a Limited Edition of SR5, if possible. Likely going to skip the Setting supplements, meanwhile Run Faster aka Runner's Companion sounds like a must. I kinda hope I'll be able to skip Stolen Souls, that its contents won't be part of Missions because 3 heavy hitters in such a short time are a tad too much finances-wise. As for the Introductory Box Set, I'll see whether I'll advise the gaming club to go for this one or just SR5.

My understanding, if you're concerned about Missions, is that Season 5 will not be using anything other than the main book.

At the start, because nothing else will be out yet. I'm waiting for the FAQ to tell us, I'm expecting a lot of Run Faster to be allowed myself.

The statement I recall seeing referred to Season 5 at large.
