specifically, what type of sensory gear is needed for a character to use empathy software?

"Empathy software is designed for use with standard video/trideo cameras... Empathy software can be discreetly used in real time during negotiations or social interactions." p. 60 AR
"Microsensors are the size of a coin or smaller and are used on micro-drones or often disguised as other items." p.333 SR4A

I say just go simple and use cyber-eyes.

I thought about the contact lens and glasses, but I didn't want to mention them before for fear of getting flamed by some on the boards.

i think i found it, "camera (trideo) (rating 1)" counts as micro under it's description. disguise it as a button in your suit jacket perhaps?

now, is only the camera needed or some other vision enhancement as well? i know image link is required for AR/trideo, but in the camera itself?

also, software is stored on your PAN, correct?

you can attach a camera as a plug-in to glasses, or even contacts. Just as you would add a vision enhancement.

Just imagine how small those cameras were in spy kids, if any of you are young or old enough to remember that.

does the camera's rating limit the software rating? or is the software limited by your commlink?

Simrig lets you use your natural senses as sensors, so that would work.

no, your commlink is the only gear that restricts the empathy software, you just need a display device and a capture device, and the hardware and OS to run it.
