Just expressing my opinion, like you are doing right now. Both are equally valid, as they are just opinions, not fact.

If it does come back the pricing should be similar to what A4BG suggested, but modified as such 20,000+(20,000*reach value). That way it scales with reach values of 0-2.

Agreed. This looks like a 'training wheels' edition, that you can use to introduce someone to the setting, and then shift over to something like 5E or 4E. Like how D&D 5E is best used as training wheels for D&D 3.X.

Don't need to go that far (especially since I pointed out that I do think it should be an exemption to the removal of the Troll Gear Tax). As it stands with how I wrote it, Reach 2 would be 40,000 added for most and 80,000 for a Troll.

Now I will admit that I didn't consider Reach 0, but that is easily remedied by adding "minimum of 1".

Dikote is avail 4 cost 1,000¥ per 100 cm2 adds +1 dv to weapons and -2 ap if edged weapon +3 if armor example sizes are

a jacket is about 15,000cm2, a full suit of armor is about 22,500 cm2, and a
long coat is around 27,500 cm2 (multiply by 0.75 for
dwarf sizes and by 1.5 for troll sizes). A katana is 500 cm2

Which doesn't work, because dikote combat knives could be easily made. With my formula troll/dwarf tax (which is only to cost of living) is not worried about, since only handles are really modified, not the blade itself. That way non-reach weapons cost +20k, reach 1 cost +40k, and reach 2 cost +60k (which would be an odd price for spears/polearms since only the blade is dikote treated) but fine for the combat axe (big blade) or claymore (most blade).

No, katana is Japanese for sword, with various sizes and lengths (which also come in multiple sizes and blade widths, length 60-73 cm and about 1.8-3cm in width). Same as saying just use the size of a k-bar, which also uses various sizes. Plus, only the blade is coated, not the whole weapon.

Also, that is 4thA rules, which we are not discussing nor would I subject anyone to using such insane cost calculation for a game.

Good information, but unfortunately, I for one would not be able to utilize it as it's unlikely to ever get into HeroLab, and I use that these days.

In terms of the 0 Reach stuff, Rigger 5.0 did set a precedent for treating 0 as 0.5

The "Shadowrun 2050" sourcebook gives SR4A rules for Dikote on p.181-182.

Not really all that many when you get right down to it.

German SR2050 is for/with SR5  and it contains rules for Dikote and FFBA that adds +1/+2/+3 to other worn armor....

I consider the German SR2050 a big Boon for all the former SR3 Players that want to return to Shadowrun
but hate WiFi and consider SR4 & 5 as ...Not Cyberpunk anymore

Indeed.

Here is - by the way - the relevant rule on Dikote from the German 2050 book (p.196):

"Dikote(TM): In this chemical process a diamond layer is applied on a hard surface. You can improve buildings, vehicles and even body armor with it. The armor value increases by 1. You can even improve melee weapons, which improves the damage code by 1 and the AP by 1.
The Dikote(TM) process is payed by surface area and is sold in 100cm² portions. A jacket has an area of about 15.000cm², a full body armor 22.500cm² a coat about 27.500cm² (multiplied by 0.75 for dwarves and 1.5 for trolls). A Katana has 500cm².
At the moment it's providing a good edge on the street - at least until the patent protection expires and everyone walks around with it."

The price is 1000NY per 100cm²
