Appearance
Gideon is dressed with a duster over an armour jacket. His pistol is on his left side in a concealable shoulder holster. His katana has a strap to go over his back but most often he holds it with his left to draw with his right. On the bike he has a recess to tuck it into although he can't draw it in that position. He has scars covering a good portion of his body, including across one eye. Losing an eye is what prompted his cybereyes. He knows he can have the scars removed, but feels they accurately portray emotional scarring.
Seraphim is a Lockheed x2. At one point, Gideon had a local artist paint feathers and eyes on him to gone the best portrayal of something living. Gideon considers him a friend.
Shithead is named that because he's huge. Gideon would have picked a smaller bike but chose this one for practicality. His rifle and smg are in a locked side case. The bike is long, but the case still comes about 12 inches off the back.
Paul Myers had a perfectly normal life growing up. Middle class corporate wage slave parents. When he hit age of majority, he could easily have started working for Renraku with his parents. But there's the rub. The trouble with excitement. When you have it you don't want it, but when you don't...
Paul started hanging with the wrong crowd. Men his age, they had sidearms, knives, all legal. It turns out they were mercenaries, and when they were shipping out, the offer was made. He signed up without hesitating. Picking up training. He always suspected he was adept, but soon it was verified. He was eventually moved to scouting, with a drone to augment him. He would be required to head into cities to scout the locals, the area, the hangouts. Most often in third world countries. Those places in the world that often got aid from organizations like The Dunkelzahn Foundation.
He never really had a lot of hands on experience. And often times he would be in the city for days, sometimes weeks, with only light contact. An easy way to lose yourself in a culture that isn't your own but steeped in tradition.
After years of this cycle, he was enjoying it. His last stint was in Turkey. Regular medication and food was being released to a primarily Islamic population. He had learned to enjoy the respite prayer offered on the city. The tradition, the culture. But some of the areas in the city were ripe with starvation and sickness. He had been stationed there for 3 months. Eventually, a drop arrived, there was rioting. Local gang lords made a play for it, with civilian population in their midst. A warlord with arms arrived to take control of the situation. They had modern arms and equipment. Calling in for backup, his own mercenary backup arrived. He was utterly shocked to see them back the warlord. Children, women, the infirm. Well into the night and into the wee hours of the morning. People died. Mercenaries drinking, looting, pillaging, among other things. A grisly sight to someone who had begun to love this community.
Eventually, he took down some of the mercenaries, drinks mostly, as well as the warlords men. The serial numbers on the arms match stock from his squad. He had been working for arms dealers and hired goons. When it was found what they had done, he ran. Several places in the world but eventually home. He couldn't face his parents. So much shame. He vowed to make it up to them. To the people. The ones who died. The problem with atonement to the dead though is that there is no one there to tell you when you are forgiven...
When he ran, he brought some gear with him. His drone and such.
