Title: Cyberdeck aesthetic.
Post by: VajraSupremus on <07-27-13/1537:11>
How are cyberdecks outer shells designed now? I don't have the book so I know nothing if there are images included. I know decks used to be essentially keyboard sized with an additional screen tacked on, but what of now?

They kind of look like tablets.

This is the Hermes Chariot Cyberdeck (a mid range deck that cost 123,000¥ and have an availability of 6R)

The most common
form of a deck is a smooth, flat, elongated rectangle,
slim with plenty of display space for touch controls, although
they can take many forms.

A cyberdeck usually has a small
screen for displaying status messages. It is most often
a flat rectangle, but it can be just about any shape that
has the same volume as a small book; the “hackpack”
model, a cyberdeck in a belt pack, is popular for deckers
on the go.

is like a commlink with some
extra features. It is a bit bigger than a commlink, about
the size of a small tablet or a spiral-bound notebook, or
a pair of playing card decks.

Xenon hit the nail on the head. I think its more important, thematically, if you choose its design to fit your character and setting. For example the Decker that I made for my stable of SR5 characters is a nouveau riche kid that idolizes the deckers of old and had his deck modeled after a 1980's keytar, neon lighting and synth music included.

I haven't been able to read much of anything.

Even most posts are too long.   :'(
