I've come accross a puzzle with the suites in the Augmentation rules book, ie... below is the books information on the suites...

Cyberware Suite - Shiwase Excutive Suite Line

Silverline (Alphaware) - 47,700 nuyen (0.76 essence)
Goldline (Betaware) - 95,400 nuyen (0.66 essence)

and below here is what the parts amount to based on the information from the books and the implant grade guide for alpha beta etc....

Standard Cost - 24,500 nuyen (0.85 essence)

Alphaware Cost - 49,000 nuyen (0.68 essence)
Betaware Cost - 98,000 nuyen (0.595 essence)

Why don't they match up? What's the deal?

Hm, let me double check the costs:

• Shiawase-Vector Sigma II headware commlink (using the same
stats as a Fairlight Caliban commlink, see p. 319, SR4) with
integrated sim-module = 8,000¥ + 2,000¥ + 2,000¥ / 0.2 + 0.2
• ATC 3318 Pearl image link retinal modification = 500¥ / 0.1
• Shiawase Babylon datajack = 500¥ / 0.1
• Shiawase XtrAlert attention coprocessor (Rating 3) = 9,000¥ / 0.3
• Apple-Omega iVII math SPU = 4,500¥ / 0.15

Total: 26,500¥ and 1.05 Essence
Alphaware: 53,000¥ and 0.84 Essence

The suites are supposed to give you a 10% package discount: 47,700¥ and 0.756 Essence (rounded to 0.76).

I suspect that you overlooked the cost of the integrated sim module.

Actually the essence costs should be:
Alpha = 1,05*0,7 = 0,735
Beta = 1,05*0,6 = 0,63
The reductions are counted togerher first and then applied to the base essence cost.
The errata will contain the rules explaining this better and has the correct costs for suites.
Ofcource its not sure whether we non Germans will ever get this errata, as they only realese one when doing a reprint of a book.

That's correct. You always combine the modifiers prior to figuring out the final cost.
