If I had had CW down on the ground, it would not have been two punches, one for each attempt by CW to sell out Netcat  and nothing for any of the other crap he has pulled on them (up to and including killing their friend), it would have been one snapping of the neck and a kick off the roof.
That just begs for the ability to let him survive somehow. Snap the neck, cut off the head, dozen-tap the brains and heart (each), then burn the body. That way you know for sure nothing, no CFD, no Cyberzombie'ng, nothing will bring him back.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!

For Jackpoint or some other (any other) professional network, I'd actually expect the opposite.  If it's in the middle of a job, you should pause, nod, and let the other guy live - even if you don't let them get away with the goods - so that they can continue to contribute to the good of the network, and even to continue to spread your rep.  If they start gunning for you, though, and they keep doing it and make it personal, whether or not you hunt the fragger down, once you have them there, you burn them to the ground and salt the earth their ashes cover - they made it personal, and since you get the chance to finish it, you finalize them with just the sort of extreme prejudice Michael Chandra suggests.

Business is business, you act professional, and you give the other professional a bye.  If they make it personal, you don't go all noble; the guy threatened your kid.  No safehouse on or off the planet would keep you safe from my wrath, you did that to me.

I will say this now... SlammO! is a saint.

Yes, a Saint.

Mild Spoiler Alert (Not giving away main plot but just touching on one scene between two iconic figures)

Read the new novel Dark Resonance, and at one point about 3/4 of the way through SlammO! has caught up with Clockwork and gives him a few punches, citing that these were for trying to sell NetCat twice before discovering a dead ally who had bought it from one of CW's drones.

End result: They handcuffed CW and left him for the PCC security to pick up.

Now there were reasons for why CW was doing what he was doing and we will not go into this as you have to read the book. :P

However, for SlammO! I can not imagine his pain (and sharing NetCat's grief as it was primarily her friend) and  there had to be a moment when he must have been thinking 'Frag the Bastard' when he had CW on the ground and still looking at the cooling body of their friend.

Remember, from SlammO!'s POV CW has tried selling NetCat out TWICE, taken their friend hostage which ultimately led to her death and don't forget in other Jackpoint conversations has already made remarks about his kid, silently implying they could do something about the youngling if they so chose to.

And all SlammO! does is basically slap him around (okay with a closed fist, but still a slapdown :P )  and dump him with the local cops.

He is a far better human being than I.

On the plus side SlammO!  definitely has the patience/temperament to be a parent.

Damn, I gotta make a crossover pic with him and Aiden Pearce toasting to their family one. Two Irish-American hackers looking out for their family.

Got both it and Hell on Water in my hands, Barnes & Noble has them I know for certain so other stores might as well.

Hell on Water has 14 page excerpt for Dark Resonance, so these are nice sized previews of books forthcoming.

Dark Resonance is a bit thicker than Hell on Water plus it has a 20 page excerpt for the upcoming 'Crimson' novel.

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?
