That was part of the book, actually - that he figured something out eventually, but when he spoke to his father ... essentially realized that he'd changed, and so gave a second, incorrect version to his anti-metahuman father to run around in circles with until he died.

But this was very, very early on, when a lot of the concepts about SR were still being ironed out, and the idea of a 'metahuman cure' was still up in the air.  It got decided that no, this is a part of your genetics, and once you're changed you can't go back, sorry.

Only a handful of the characters from the novels leak back with any sort of frequency into the game world; most disappear, having had their time in the literary spotlight.  Sorry.

Like a number of early characters, though, he 'returned' to show up (or at least post) in the "Shadowrun: 2050" alternative campaign sourcebook.
