I can cannibalize parts in my off time.  Would it be too cheesy to buy a bunch of cheap printers and make E-parts for 100¥ and 40min each (Log+Hardware: 8dice - 4dice for other device penalty, buy 1 hit for 1/4th of a part)?  I already thought about the Datachips/Credsticks/RFIDs for even cheaper but I figure those don't have enough "electronic parts" to make anything out of.

Yeah that's one of those infinite wealth loopholes you shouldn't think to hard about (Shortly after Datatrails came out I posted plans for a private drone factory that could disassemble R3 Sensor tags in a Special Workplace with increased limit and teamwork checks for about 1 to 1,5 Parts per tag.

It's best not to think to hard about those rules...

Gotcha,  so honor system to limit yourself to finding the stuff to break down.  I was thinking a electronics recycling business would be booming.

printer is 25 nuyen meta link commlink is 100 nuyen but printers get -4 dice pool penalty commlink gets +4 dice pool bonus so it generally means you get 2 more 1/4 packs for commlinks but pay 4 times as much as using printers

Don't forget, your limit on the check is the [Device Rating].  So without teamwork or drone swarm bonus to limit, you're only getting 0.25 electronic parts per Meta Commlink or Printer.

If you have 8 dice for Hardware skill, then printers are the way to go since you get the parts even with the -4 dice.  If you're at less than 8 dice, you'll want to stick with items like commlinks for the bonus dice.

Edit: Can't help it... the analyst in me has to:
1 electronic part = 200 (5 for 1,000 discount)
4 x 100n Meta Commlink = 400n for 200n in parts
4 x 25n printers = 100n for 200n in parts.
With a Hardware Tool Kit needed, you'll need to make 5 parts using 20 printers to break even, not including overhead costs and glitches, if you can sell them for book pricing.

but of course you can generally only sell things for around a quarter of their book value, and most runners won't go through very many packs of parts, so of limited value.

But if you really want to get hardcore about it,  get your pool up to ten dice or more and train a couple of team mates until they have five dice (reasonably glitch resistant and good odds of at least success).   Teamwork will bring your limit up to three, and add a few dice to your pool, such that you have fair odds of getting three quarter packs per printer, or 37.5 in resale value off a 25 nuyen printer.  Sometimes the dice won't be favourable, so your longer term margin is probably below fifty percent.
