Calling Howling Shadows a "debacle" is certainly not a fair assessment of the book - while the missing price list was annoying, there was a lot of good in this books, especially the focus of not making it a "monster" list, but trying to make each critter "story interesting".
But as your refer to it as a "bestiary", maybe the term itself explains your deception

As far for FA, it stands for
Forbidden Arcana, a recently released "advanced magic book". Which also contains a lot of interesting stuff - along with some crunch. However, many in the community are baffled by the released of "yet an other magic book" (Shadow Spells, Aertherology, Street Grimoire and now Forbidden Arcana), while the Technomancer are still waiting for a book to fix their rule, but also forward port a lot of concept from 4ed (like Paragons, Widgets and so on).
