I find it very annoying and irritating when watching TV or listening to the radio, and hear someone speaking a mixed language.

Why do they do it? Do they think that it's a COOL way of speaking?
I don't think so!

Safety officers that have no actual experience in the trades, yet think they know how to keep me safe at my job.....

(I am one of those people that speak in mixed languages.... In my case, its a need to communicate to my mixed ethnic crew and be understood in the shortest amount of time... so we speak in a mix of english, french, spanish, and shuse'matwik'- the native american language of 3 crew members)
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

For bilingual characters, it's a bit of truth in television - I've known people that have grown up speaking two languages who just do that naturally when speaking to someone who knows both languages, shifting into whichever language better expresses what they want to say

I grew up speaking English and Spanish.  Admittedly, my Spanish sucks, but I still find that I use it when around Spanish-speakers.

I have lived in two different multilingual cities, and the combination of languages does literally happen.  "Fringlish" (Half-French/Half-English) was what I actually had to learn how to stop doing when I came to Winnipeg, as not as many people know French as back home.

As for things that irritate me, it is a surprise, but since I started proofreading:  Professional signs with really bad errors on them.

OMG that's annoying.  The other night, Jimmy Fallon had Justin Timberlake on the Tonight Show, and the advertisement blurb read that the guest was "Justing Timberlake" - I had a small stroke right there trying to rectify the typo.

I also switch languages quite often, sometimes even in mid-sentence.  As I'm trilingual (Dutch, English, French) and I work in a pharmaceutical company (all documents and such are in English) but with all French speaking people, it's logical.  We're so used to using some words in English that we actually don't know the French word for it.

At our roleplay table we do the same thing, but then with Dutch and English.  We use English source books (they are not translated into Dutch as the area is too small and most gamers understand English) so some terminology we don't know in Dutch (or it sounds ridiculous).

English / Russian bilingual (technically, trilingual, but I don't use Lithuanian that much any more). That's about what my experience is. Sometimes a thought is better expressed in a particular language, so the switch happens relatively freely. Although, being a language purist, I feel really bad about it afterwards.

Things that irritate me.

Hmm... People who don't seem to realize that there are, in fact, other people around them trying to get places. So they stand or move slowly in traffic blocking others, whether that being a hallway in a building or the passing lanes on a highway.

This irritates me as well, along with their forum-based equivalents who seem to think that they're the only ones in cyberspace.  :P

One thing that irritates me is when I think I understand perfectly what the other person is saying... and it turns out I completely misunderstood them. It's not them I'm irritated at.

Hmmm..... What'll turn me into a cane-swinging, ranting, PO'd gamer?  When a player gabs non-stop about something non-topic while the GM is trying to run a game. >:(
                             {GM:                     'The party approaches the warehouse, whose checking for security?'}
                             {1st player:         'My decker sets up the cameras to loop starting now.}
                             {2nd player:        'My street shaman goes astral and looks for any wards or signatures.}
                             {3rd player:         'Hey guys,...who do ya think should play Gambit in the next MU movie?}
I'm not Mad...insane a bit...but not mmmaaaddd!

GM: 'Decker, you detect security alarms going off, centering around a sound alarm near 3rd Player. Street Shaman, you see a drekload of guards and paracritters headed your way. 3rd Player, congrats. Your comment about Gambit alerted security.'

OR

GM: '3rd Player, you hear a mechanical voice say, "Command accepted; beginning Sentinel Routine." Then you see the ground open up and a spider mech the size of a tank slowly rise out of the ground. Everyone, roll initiative!'

What's irritating me right now is the Carpenter Union protesters nearby. Someone decided to build a Dunkin' Donuts, the first one we've had in ages, and work had been stopped the last two days for some reason we couldn't figure out. Just a bit ago a bunch of union protesters started showing up and shouting a bunch of stuff, the only thing I can make out being "Rats go home!" Normally I don't care who protests what, but they're so loud I can hear them all the way in my bedroom, and it looks like they'll be doing this the entire time I generally sleep (I work 3rd shift).

What's irritating me is someone keeps calling and hanging up; the caller ID says "US Government" each time. There's this slight paranoid part of me that suspects I'm getting crank called by the CIA.
