Hi folks!

Been rejoining the ranks of the Shadowrunners again after some time off in fantasy land ;)

When last I was active there was talk of a SR4 character generator by (I think) Lone Wolf. What became of that? Did it get cancelled?

Thank in advance for answering :)

There are also some fan-made ones out there, personally I got burned by Lone Wolf once before with a 40k army builder they pulled the plug on after I paid for it.

Not sure what you mean by that, Army Builder still supports 40K. As I recall GW prohibited them from publishing Army lists but those were provided by fans. Unless I am missing something else??
It's not the one with your name on it; it's the one addressed "to whom it may concern" you've got to think about.

It's been like 10 year so I can't recall the exact specifics.  I want to say I bought Army Builder, a month later a new revision of the rules came out, and LWL changed editions and dropped all support for the edition I bought and wanted me to buy it again.

But I can't recall the specifics anymore, but I remember enough to not give them my money.

I've had a chance to see the HeroLabs Shadowrun beta at work and its pretty nice. So far its just basics (no magic/technomancy yet) but its functional and seems about as smooth as the HeroLabs version I use (Pathfinder). I can't wait to see the final product as even with the Packs (which helped greatly) PC creation is a royal pain because I'm still new at this.

The most recent Lone Wolf newsletter stated that there was a bit of a delay.  Here's a cut and paste of the blurb:

Quote
This week we have an update on our timetable for Shadowrun, as well as the usual preview screenshots for you.

When we were working on our schedule at the end of last year, we had originally planned to release the Shadowrun data package at the end of May / early June. Unfortunately, the complexity of certain elements of the game has meant development is taking longer than we had originally anticipated. As a result, we're pushing the release date of the Shadowrun data package back to Gen Con this year.

We'd love to be able to release the Shadowrun data package earlier, but unfortunately we can't do so without sacrificing the quality and ease-of-use that Hero Lab users and Shadowrun players rightly expect. Rest assured, we're working hard to get it into your hands as soon as we possibly can!

Seems like something Dumpshock Excel generator SR4CG DK handles quite good even with all resources and rules...
Im trying Karmagen now and it works flawlesly. I think Ill save my money...
until there will be the GM assistant in that Lone Wolf product also, that could change my opinion...

Pity that nobody got McMackie to do one of those for SR4 . . the NSRCG3 was the best thing one could get for SR3 . .

I was tired of spread sheets and generators that were never completed, so I made my own and decided to share it. You can check out the Dumpshock thread for it at http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=34674. Only requirement is Microsoft .NET Framework 4.

One of the biggest problems I've had with most community generators is the handling of optional rules.  All of them try very hard to include functionality to handle them, but it never seems like I can find a generator that covers All of the optionals that the games I'm in always seem to have.

Shadowrun's longest running character generator has support for every single book (except possibly attitude I haven't checked) yet released here:  http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=23735

The big downside to it is that while the generator itself keeps pace with the updates your characters don't.  You need to plug them into each new version manually.

I see you're also pretending War! doesn't exist, eh?
That and Milspec Tech and This Old Drone.

All poorly thought-out, poorly implemented power-creep is not to be found in the DK spread.

I highly recommend checking this out. Neb's still working on covering everything, but he's been doing a really good job of it so far.
