you're a shadowrunner... break into someone's apartment and borrow their shower, and keep nice clothes stored in your storage unit.

It's hard to blend in when you live squatter lifestyle, and can't impress anyone when you show up for a job in squatter clothes with showers a distant memory. 1 month of Low lets you get your feet under you and start making money without standing out for being so poor.

This pack is also supposed to be useful to new character, not just one on the run.

If you have to run, you have the clothes you wear.  Understand that your Lifestyle != your clothing, especially the stuff you show up at a meet wearing.  This sort of PACK is the equivalent of a bug-out bag -- the Lifestyle is ONLY the place where you happen to be storing it.  Rightfully, you should build the storage unit with the Lifestyle rules in ... where-ever they are.  Runner's Companion?  Whatever.  Nothing but a bit of space in a C-rated neighborhood; no food, no power, no furniture, just space enough for your 'I had to abandon everything before, but now I'm armed, armored, and looking to kick someone's teeth in' gear.

You don't really have to keep it up, given that the whole rest of the PACK can fit into a long term storage locker at the airport or a safe deposit box at a bank, and you can drop the money on getting your one month of low lifestyle right then.

Your lifestyle dose include your clothes, though you could have a better or worse suit as a costume, your wardrobe and what you can wear day-to-day is part of your lifestyle though, as is how you can keep yourself up. You just aren't going to look your best living out of a squat, and if you need more then one month to rebuild to the point you can afford to keep up a low lifestyle you've had worse problems then this kit can help with.

I would consider a Low-Light option between the stacked visual aid equipment. Overall, this PACK looks like a pretty solid opening option.

True - I took the sensor equipment from my elf, så I forgot that.
Well most races have either thermographic or low-light so change one of them for the other unless you are a human.

Why buy a 1500 nyuan system 4 OS to run on a 700 nuyan response 2 comlink? For 50 more you could meet in the middle with a Novatech Airware running Isis Orb to get 3 in all matrix attributes, rather then having everything capped at 2 by the comlink's response. The Emperor can't run rating 4 programs without a response upgrade either.

My only other quibble is that I'd put a lifestyle, weapon and armor in an essential starting pack, but that isn't an error on your part, just a difference in opinion between us, I imagine.

You are right on the commlink part  :)

I didn't include weapons and armor because they depend on body and skill set to be useful optimized.
But I quess a FFBA could be included.

I think the most common armor I see is:
Full Body Form Fit Armor (3550¥)
[Non-Conductivity: 6, Chemical Protection: 3]

Usually it is combined with the following as well.
Vitals Protector
Leg and Arm Casings
