Due to unforceen circumstances, I had to take the GM's seat and thus vacate my position as player in this game. Thus, we are looking for a third player to fill in my shoes. At this point I am only looking for concepts and backstories and once that is settled we will work on stats and player sheets. Meanwhile, the story with existing players will continue and the new player will be introduced at an opportune time.
-
Are you guys still looking for more? I have a skillwired face I think might fit in. She was going to be a freelance johnson but I could make her a current johnson for KE instead.
-
AFAIK HydroRaven has given up on that game.
But he started a new recruitment at http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=25607.0
But just in case: I'd still be up for a continuation of Seattle Undercover :)

Cool concept!
-
Sounds like an interesting concept, but I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the idea KE needs a Johnson.
P.S: If we have the numbers, I'm all for continuing the storyline.
-
Even Ares needs deniable assets
-
Ares, yes. But KE? Why do they need an undercover face?
-
Well, undercover police men aren't unheard of, neither is using deniable assets to trip up a big fish. ;)
-
Sorry, I was under the influence yesterday when i wrote my last reply. Let me rephrase it:
I can see an undercover face if that's what you are looking to make, but a Johnson I can't really find the usefulness besides attracting a flurry of entrapment lawsuits for KE.
-
Oh you wouldn't be building cases against runners you hired or anything I would imagine but hiring runners to run on targets assets you have under surveillance could always lead to interesting evidence popping up. KE has a bottom line too I'm sure there are some criminals that are costing them more money than they want to absorb or they could be propping up a crime spree to renegotiate contracts. I'm sure a creative GM could think of all sorts of things. However I meant I would be an Ares Johnson and since KE is an Ares subsidiary they would have access to that pool even if you don't think they would have their own pool to draw from.
The name might change but I'm calling her V for now.
V was born to Ares corporate parents. They installed skillwires in her at a fairly young age to give her an advantage in school and the cut throat corporate world and while it helped her it made her a little lazy as well and it didn't help retain a lot of information but her natural charm and social grooming made up for it in spades. Her parents noticed her predisposition and sprung for tailored pheromones too. Her high marks in school thus tended to be as much her convincing her teachers and professors to give them to her as it was based on the understanding of the materials.
V is a bit of an idealist believing in honor courage and ethics, but she is not naive. She knows others won't agree but it means something to her whether others follow it or not. She prefers not to kill people at all preferring to use non-lethal means when her words fail her, not something she has seen happen very often. She follows Bushido in her life working for Ares applying the code in every facet of her life.
I can be more specific depending on your game preferences and concerns you've raised.

Your backstory sounds interesting, I'm still just struggling to find a reason why an undercover detective would pose as a Johnson, and how that would fit in with the other 2 characters already in the game. If you don't mind focusing more on the "face" part of being a Johnson for this adventure, then I say yes. We might even be able to fit a few side missions if you hiring some runners for other Ares-related tasks.
-
Sure that's no problem. I don't need to be a Johnson, for the game or anything. I was thinking more along the lines of she's skilled in these types of things she's loyal to the company and she already has a bunch of underworld contacts to use. Plus she's been looking for opportunities to show what she can do. I have a chummer 5 character sheet and I can send you the file or I can just post it in the recruitment thread if you'd prefer.
-
Yeah, you can just post it in here.

Let me say: Welcome to the team.
Your character looks exactly like what we need in this team: Someone who can talk to people ;D
-
Looks good, but you might want to make your character a bit older for her to be involved in undercover work or give her a good reason for her to sweet talk herself into this assignment.
-
Sure I was going to add a bit more backstory once I had some direction from you as to specifics, but I'll fill it in a little when I get back from work this afternoon.
-
@Ennui, unless I'm mistaken Hardwires replace existing skills, not augment them. So, there's no need to pump skill points into those skills, as you top out the rating of the Hardwire -- Gyrojet Pistols 5, for example.
Also, note that the Greatcoat won't Stack with any Zoe clothing, as they need to have the same maker.
I look forward to reading the background, and I'm sure Abran is looking forward to meeting Vultus as well.
-
The narcoject pistol is an exotic weapon not covered by pistols
I dont recall anything about custom fit having to be by the same maker. You have a page number I can check that out at or is this a house rule?
I look forward to meeting you all IC as well.
-
R&G p. 59
CUSTOM FIT (STACK) This characteristic employs all the Custom Fit rules, but in addition these items can stack with other pieces that have been Custom Fit by the same maker, for the same person. The character has to select a specific set of Armored Clothing to have the piece Custom Fit with. The Custom Fit combination then allows the character to use either the base armor or add on the stack bonus for that set of gear.
-
That's like the same tailor not the same designer right? Chummer lets me do it =P
-
Taylor/maker in that case is the fashion company.
In my opinion it's an unnecessary complication, but by RAW you not only would commit a fashion faux pas, but also wouldn't benefit from the armor bonus.
-
Yeah, my interpretation on this one is also the same manufacturer. But you're still in chargen, so you can change it if you want to :)
-
So like Second Skin, what would you combine that with? There's no maker listed. Are things like PPP and bracers still giving the +1 or is that just the custom fit stuff that you cant stack?
-
Second Skin is a product of Zoé like the Executive Suite, Heritage and Nightshade.
Armor add ons without custom fit (stack) have no such restrictions and can be combined freely (up to strength limits of course)
-
Jack laid it out pretty nicely :)
-
Oh yeah, chummer makes that a bit more apparent than the book did, thanks for helpin' this noob out.

Heather Verner has been working for Ares for about five years. During that time she has worn many hats. She has developed contacts in the seedier side of things to facilitate the smooth running of those hats. A social chameleon Heather uses her social abilities and skillwires to move seamlessly from job to job. She has lead the negotiations tables and made several high stakes deals. She has functioned as an underground quartermaster for Ares special operations and undercover operatives. She's worked as a Johnson, working directly with deniable assets. Through it all she has had a fascination with Ares secret ops and has often fantasized about being a spy and kept her finger on the pulse of her network of contacts.
Through her fixer she discovered a leak in Ares who had procured some special operations project data on Knight Errant and was looking for a buyer. As a dutiful employee she of course set up the meet as an interested data broker. At the buy she recorder the sale, and glanced through the information to verify it was legit. one piece stood out to her. A group of undercover KE working as shadowrunners along with the name of an errant member who she had met on a joint task force at one point. Once she pocketed the data she tazed the shit out of the leak and procured the data. Her superiors were quite impressed when she presented the evidence, leak and data. It didn't take much after that to convince them that she should be added to the team. If she can prove her chops on this maybe she could get that Ares special agent gig she's been dreaming about for so long.
