Title: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (16:27:48/09-02-13)
Well, I've started this Excel CharGen in other topics, but now that it's pratically finished I think it ought to be placed in it's own topic for appreciation of all that wish to try it.

Its a excel based character generator with gear and augmentation automatic fields in a buying interface. Level-up capabilities and updated with All current books (jan, 2018) (as fas as I know). And automated char sheet.

here is the link:   https://drive.google.com/open?id=18meZd59GPM8ldPQA1re_UL2f8CzuDAKi

Here is the link for a new tool... a Initiative Tracker and condition monitor Tracker: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B90sdELgLbhZcHhwMW1UaDNuM2M

Hope it can be of use for someone

To Do List:

* chemicals and other drugs to buy.
*  think about specs and how to make it clearer where it is and to what it is related. I'm not sure if it needs to be.. made a few minor changes that might work

* linked att on knowledge.  Troublesome... I'll take some time do to that... not the most urgent
* adding 10% of life Style cost for group housing... how to solve the dwarf, troll, human group in this situation ?  Still thinking about it
* placing all character sheets in one tab to make printing easier... have to change many formulas for that

Changes made since Decemebr 16, 2013:

* Add filter to skill tab.
* add quantities to equiment tabs
* ritual spell costs and placement on sheet.

EDIT (January 14, 2018): After almost five years I'm back. Life happened. I decided to update my Chargen. I changed the link above to my new version. I'm calling it 2.0, since there is a lot of changes that required many formulas to be updated.

On a second Note. I am going to place here another tool I created. An Initiative tracker and condition monitor automaticaly updated.

On a Third note. I was thinking of combining the initiative tracker with a set of tables from the SR5 CR. It is in a beta version and now that there are so many more books the work to make it complete will be even more complex... But I'll place it here so that you can check it and give sugestions.

Awesome.  ;D
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (19:10:11/09-07-13)
Well... thank you.

I have updated the link and now it should be cleaner... with all information automatically placed at the character sheet.

As far as I can tell, everything is there. spell list, program list, Every piece of gear, augmentation, decks, RCC, with buying interface and going to the Char Sheet.

Qualities, skills, complex forms, rituals, all listed and inside dropdown lists. Karma costs for all these, Life Style and Life Style options automatically calculated.

Alternate Gameplay is also in the CharGen.

There is a General Sheet, with 2 pages, and a third page for awakened characters, a third page for matrix users, and a extra page, a copy of the sencond page but without information automatically placed, Might be usefull for a Street samurai, or anyone with lots of gear.

If you guys find anything you think could be improoved, let me know please.
Thank you in advance for your sugestions and reviews

Tried this today. Looks nice. I did find a bit of a bug. After assigning priorities when spending stat points, raising magic comes out of the regular points not the special attribute points (where it is supposed to come from).
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (20:47:53/09-07-13)
You are correct. It was coming from special AND regular chargen points... error in one of the formulas... corrected now.

Thank you for the heads up

Looks like the link to the Armor table isn't working.
I selected an armor from the drop down menus and the dependent fields didn't populate.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (00:48:55/09-09-13)
Uhm... I just checked and it worked... Can you specify the problem? I checked the "Resources-Equipment" sheet, and chose the armor type before using the armor column. it was populated.

with no armor type selected it keeps blank but selecting the armor type the next drop down menu worked. I checked all dropdown menus in table 4: Armor.

Sorry, but I don't seem to find what could have gone wrong...

Hmm, opening this in LibreOffice or OpenOffice seems to screw up many of the dropdowns. Haven't checked so make sure the math was still working yet.

Anyone have an idea on why?

Also it's giving me a cost of 5 for Analytical Mind, was this errata'd book shows 8.

Was looking at wrong line, by bad.

So I'm using Excel 2010 Start-up on the tab <Resources-Equipment> and I scroll to Table 4: Armor.  I use the drop down menu to select Armor then go to the next column and select Lined Coat.  Nothing populates in Armor Rating, Availability, Cost multiplier, Base Cost or Final Cost.

I tried filling in the rating and capacity, but that didn't do anything either. (Screen shot attached)

Your skills tab was incorrectly calculating remaining skill points.  You stopped counting 1/2 way down the list.

Also, I can't find where to spend karma to get more nuyen....

I tought the problem was on the dropdown menu... it was with the formula in the rest of the table. You are correct and I have corrected the table. Thank you for the help and the patience.

You are aslo correct. The formula has been adjusted and I added a place for buying nuyen with karma in the resource-equipment tab, just above lifestyle

Thak you as well for the help.

PS: Since I'm spending a year away from my place of residence due to my PhD course I haven't been playing since before the SR5 release. You guys are my testers after myself of course. So I really mean it when I thank you.

Excel 2007 here and not seeing drop-downs for the following:

Priorities, Race or Magic/Resonance fields on the "Priorities-Race-Att" tab.

"Adept Powers" and "Level" for the Adept Powers table on 'Magic-Resonance'

"Weapon Type" for Ranged Weapons below the first row on 'Resources-Equipment'

"Essence Left" on the 'Resource-Augments' tab -- should this be grey instead?

You're right... Essence Left in Resource-Augments should be grey.  For the rest... well I really don't know if there is anything to do with the diference in excel versions. I will try to look into it...

Edited: According to microsoft office support page excel 2007-2013 have compatible file format. Trying to save in excel 97-2003 is complicated because it doesn't have much support for the amount of formulas in my file... I will talk with a few friends that work with TI and see if they can give me a hand.

Is there a way that embedded cyberware can be noted at the moment rather than manually?
I'm adding flare compensation and other goodies to my cyber-eyes and it's draining my essence.

BTW - Fantastic job, I really appreciate builders like yours.

Hey guys, long time no see.

I updated the Chargen. the link is here and I'm about to edit the first post as well: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B90sdELgLbhZXzV1SWtBYU1wSTQ/edit?usp=sharing

I fixed a few issues. The DocWagon problem is solved. There were a few improovements.

The CharGen now is fully capable of leveling up. It is not only for Character creation.

The Sheets are ready but not yet fully functional. My intention is to send all the information to the sheets. Its almost done but not quite yet.

The issue with Cyber Limbs have not been addressed as of yet.

Sorry for going AWOL. Busy semester. Organizing academic events, running a academic journal as Chief-Editor and planning my weadding has been proving quite taxing :) But I'm back on my insomnia fase and decided to come back to the CharGen

The notes in the Intro are for myself, trying to remember bugs to fix. It's in Portuguese. I'm Brazilian after all.

Now the Sheets are ready... if I'm not mistaken only the submersion and Initiation are not yet automatically displayed in the sheets. but they will be.

I have yet to check on the cyberlimbs issue... but other than that I believe the Chargen is now fully operational and with Character sheet automatically filled and ready to be printted.

Hope you guys like it

Any suggestions please let me now

Azriel, the problem with CL customization is solved. but the merrit should go to Flaser. The aygmentation section I took from his Chargen. I only made adjustments in order to work in my excel... different versions.

For everybody: Few minor issues found and solved, mainly with contacts table.

Amazing how it always sems to pop up something to work in a chargen like this.

Minor issues addressed in skills. Added a few informations, skills with possibility of defaulting are automatically calculated in the sheet, the advantages of mentor spirit are not calculates automatically because it is not usually a bonus to core values. Only exception is voice control acting upon social limit. this is calculated in this chargen.

O changed the colord and organizations to make it more concise and clean.

Added a table with all excel sheets, with links to tehm in the intro sheet

Go wild

Hoi Telles.

Thanks for the updates.  this makes learning this system and creating characters SOO much easier.  I love the printable character sheet that updates as you enter information...pure gold there.
Now here come the nitpicking...sorry.

Character Sheet tidbits:
The Knowledges do not allow for Languages, or at least dont allow an "N" for Native speaker.  They also do not list on the character sheet, at least the numbers do not.  The First listed Knowledge doesnt show up on Sheet.
Ammo listed under the Ranged weapon catagory does not list the number of bullets purchased.
Gear is not listed at all on the Character sheet just a #VALUE! error.

Misc notices:
In the Ranged Weapon catagory on the Resources Equipment tab.  only the top most line has a drop down option.  al the ones lower have no drop down.
On the Priorities tab if you Input a Stat increase from Augmentations onto a Stat that you have used Karma on it counts the Augmentation Bonus as a Karma Purchase.
There is no Place to List Specializations, either on the tables or on the character sheets.

Please dont think of this as complaints and/or unappreciation.  I absolutely LOVE this set up..and if I had any Knowledge of how to work the Excel program I would try and fix the errors for you.  I know that if I ever get a group to play every character I make will be made with this set up.

Thanks for all the hard work you have done on this.

Azriel

Post by: Telles on (16:23:29/11-25-13)
Hey don't be sorry man. One of the reasons for me to place the CharGen here is for this kind of feedback.

I was aware of the knowledge problem, but I had forgotten about it... The ammo at the ranged weapon list needs for the user to specify the number of times you buy it at the "rating/ammo quantity" columm after avail. Remember the cost is per 10 shots.

I have changed the sheet so you can place specializations near the knowledge skills. (I will add a dropdown of knowledges and languages with a place for N, not ready yet.

The ranged weapon category is ok with the last version. maybe the one you downloaded was with a bug that i now have it solved. I'll check anyway.

I will have to think better about the karma/augment issue.

about the rest... I made a few changes in the Chargen over the weekend... When did you last downloaded it? Nonetheless I shall chek on your notes as soon as I can. Thank you for the time to point them out.

I  downloaded a version a week ago or so.  And I did input a number of rounds bought.  I meant to say when they appear listed on the character sheet printout they list ammo like it was a weapon.  But no list of amount on ammo.  Also remaining nuyen does not she up on character sheet.  Although you might have meant for that to happen on purpose.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (21:00:42/11-25-13)

Just finished working on the CharGen again. All the issues brought up by Azriel were solved. Except for the issue with the ammo... have to think about that... might have to make a special place for them on the sheet, or place it at gear and let the specific information to be used by the player, without automatic calculation...

Thank you again Azriel... and could you give me a feedback on the solutions I gave? if it worked? I have no group currently and so no one to test my CharGen.

thank you

PS just reallized I did nothing about remaining nuyen... oh well... next update :)
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet

Ok, added a "starting nuyen" field at resource equipment tab. it gives the dice and amount of nuyen that crosses over after creation. The ammo will be addressed later

Seriously though thanks for all the hard work on this. How well does it handle post chargen stuff? I am looking to port my character over from a pdf to this..but I am a little past the chargen stage.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Critter on (21:31:03/11-25-13)
Oh yeah, a suggestion! I have one. Go me. I know I tend to pick up a lot of contacts post chargen, and a Face might have a lot out of the box. Maybe have 5 slots per section for contacts (for a total of 20) as opposed to 3 each (for a total of 12). Seriously if you get more than 20 contacts you might want to stay home more.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (23:03:47/11-25-13)
Thank you... it is hard work :) but it is also a lot of fun. This is the first time I use excel for anything. I'm away from my hometown, and therefore my group, in order to take my classes, for my PhD. So wihtout the possibility of playing the game, and Chummer stopping the work I decided to play with excel... Amazing what google, excel forums and peeking into other people CharGens can do for your knowledge of excel :)

About the contacts... The problem is space... Maybe in the extra sheet declining more room for armor coul ad 6 more, for a total of 18... I'll Think about it.

Oh and it is complettly functional for post char gen. just place the amount of karama in the karma gainned and go wild.

all tables have space for points bought with karma skills, Att, qualities) qualities have a space for negative qualities bought off... and positive qualities a space for noting it was bought after char gen. street cred, notoriety and public awarness can be manaegd in the same tab as contacts, including buying one with the other.

There is a space for nuyen gainned so you can cash in as well. But not all calculations are automatic, dice added to specific types of spells are not noted for example (in case of mentor spirit) but you can note if a complex form or spell is bought or not (and the price is the same at char gen or not)

there is a table for submersion and initiation as well, and it's automatically uploaded to the sheet. (but since you can go to infinity and beyond with those I stopped at 6 I think.

at the top of my head... that's it... of course there is more, but the big points are there I think.

And check it for bugs and point them out please. (there is the ammo issue still to be addressed)

see ya

Hey there Telles,

I'm not sure if anyone else has requested this, but it seems to be something no one ever puts on any character sheet I've seen so far: mods.  Weapons usually get tricked out to some extent or another, and armor has a few mods that can be installed as well.  I'm not sure that there's a way to implement the math thing - but at least having room to add the mods in a description field would be nice.

Just verified that the armor mods and weapon mods are under the general gear tab.  I did find a problem though: the ammunition prices are off by a factor of 10.  The formula multiplies the "Rating" by the price per unit, but the price per unit is per 10 rounds.  My suggestion: keep the formula, change the price per unit to be 1/10 of what it currently is.  So regular ammo is 2¥ per unit instead of 20.

I don't know if this was reported earlier, but in the current version of the sheet, Knowledge Skills seem to be a little funky.  Let's say that I enter the following Knowledge Skills and values:

Corporate Procedures 4
Data Havens 4
English 4
Matrix Security Procedures 4
Seattle Area Knowledge 4

The end result on the sheet called FirstAndSecondPage is this:

Data Havens
English
Matrix Security Procedures
Seattle Area Knowledge
0

Note that none of these have values either.  If you'd like I can send over a copy of the sheet(s) I'm working with.

I'm really liking your forms a LOT so far.  Keep up the good work!

I'm having trouble with the bonus skills from magic/resonance. I am an adept with B in magic/resonance, so should have one rating 4 active skill but can't seem to pull points from the "bonus skill points from mag/res" no matter what I select. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Also it might be nice for programs to have their own table on the equipment page as they can take up a lot of space on the general table.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet

I'm in the middle of moving to another city, might be away for a while...

Namikaze... I'll check the ammo problem... the knowledge is solve I believe.

Lindz... the number shown in the "bonus skill points from mag/res" is for you to know thwy exist. they are included in the amount shown in the "Skill points left" so the points are there. I'll think about a program table... but it would mean a extra space for them at the character sheet... that is more complicated.

Thank you for the bug reports and for the suggestions...

see you when I see you

Thanks Telles, I hope your move goes smoothly.  Last time I moved, it was last minute and on the coldest day of the year.  I did find another potential bug:

I actually found quite a few typos in the lists.  I could fix them for you if you're interested.
Title: Re: CharGen with Automated Character Sheet
Post by: Telles on (08:26:09/12-08-13)

Ok, because I'm feeling addicted to changing my CharGen I made alterations again... The vision magnification was suppossed to be vision enhancement (the first of the two appearing) Solved

The melee weapons below taser... After the previous post I noticed there was a mistake there and solved it... I believe that know it works in all cells of that collumn

Solved two typos... "Thermite" and "Manual" (the last one was in vehicle mod... I swear I fixed this particular typo like 4 times :) )

the ammo issue... not exactly a issue... the ammo table in SR5 Corebook shows prices per 10 shot. If I break them per unit some ammo will show 7,5 per unit... and there is no 0,5 nuyen. so I assumed one can only buy in stashes of 10. But I understand that the number under quantity will be a tenth of the actual quantity os rounds your character have... so I changed the character sheet formula so that tha quantity will be times 10.  So buy per 10 shots and on the sheet it will show per rounds.

Ok... lunch time :)

enjoy and keep bug pointing... (A friend of mine posted the link for the CharGen in reddit so hopefully there will be more bug finders... plus I reconnected with my group, they might help with this as well)

I am also having problems with bows.  The rating is a fill in space, but when I fill it in, it does not carry over to the price/damage etc. parts of the form.  It also does not work on the character sheet.  The problem also carries over to the arrows, and shouldn't the arrows be in an ammo slot?

Still an excellent and impressive work.

Telles, I've fixed numerous bugs and formatting and implemented some additions to your sheet (including at least one you had on your todo list).  Unfortunately, I didn't track exactly what I did so I can't provide an itemized list of changes.  Since we're in the process of starting up a SR5 game, I'll likely continue making changes.

If you'd like, let me know and I'll be happy to send it to you...

Hey guys... Twilight... good to hear that... I would love to take a look at your changes... I'll send you a private message about it...

Averybody else... sorry for my disappearance... moving to another state... my wedding is in about two weeks and this weekend I found out my fiancé is pregnant... (great news... just a lot to do)

I made some changes... mostly makisn my to do list... but another reason for my delay in posting is my work on other tools for SR5... such as a initiative tracker that places the order of play automatically... and a condition monitor tracker linked to the initiative tracker... you write the body and the will and it places the correct amount of boxes for physical and stun. You place the amount of damage and i marks the boxes used by such damage.

I'll place the links for them in my first post. The regular link for the CharGen and my new link for the initiative and condition monitor tracker

I'm also working on a excel with the CharGen, the initiative and condition monitor tracker, some cheat sheets and all of the SR5 rulebook tables with a search button for each table, tool and cheat sheet... but that might take a while :)

Great work, I did find that Improved Reflexes for the Adept is not showing up correctly. Its is not being added to Reaction and +Level D6 is not being added to initiative Die.

I did quite a bit more fixing and expanding functionality (and some changes that made sense to me).  I'll send my updates to Telles again soon.

Amazing sheet! Found a few bugs however (in V 1.1) that may or may not have been fixed in the meantime:

- It seems the social limit is not being raised with Tailored Pheromones
- Enhanced Articulation does not raise Physical Limit
- Mnemonic Enhancer does not raise Mental Limit
- Magic rating should be capped at 0 and not go into negative numbers
- Adept powers are not on dropdown menu

For some reason the version I got from your link only starts with 20 Starting Karma instead of the proper 25. It is throwing off all the calculations by having it that 5 points off. The Screenshot is how it looks as I load up the file, the Initial Karma being 25 and Karma Left being 20, and I have not yet done a single thing on this after loading it.

EDIT: Found eventually what was going on, on your "blank" default there is a single spell line with "Bought" selected.

Thank you for this sheet.  I use this for all character building.

Small note, In adept powers, improved reflexes and Sense are spelled "improoved"

So is version 1.1. still the latest. Does the clicker at the beginning of this post still spit out the latest and greatest?

As far as I know, it is the latest from Telles.  I've continued modifying 1.1 for my use (adding functionality, fixing bugs, etc).  It includes some layout and minor behavior changes from 1.1 so Telles may or may not make this official.  Here's a link to my 1.2 version. Hello Guys... sorry for vanishing. Life required my attention away from the pc... or the RPG for that matter.

But I come bearing gifts... Version 2.0 of the chargen is up... haven't tested it yet. but after much, much... much tinkering it's time to let it fly. Now that it is released in the matrix it's yours for the taking. Like always I hope you enjoy it and feel confortable to point out dificulties int the chargen, give sugestions and so forth.

I also place a new link for the Initiative Tracker with Condition monitor tracker and a link for a beta version of a new tool I'm working on, with tables from the books (only the corebook for now) with hyperlink to each table in a dropdown menu to choose the table (and use a single button below the table chosen in the dropdown menu) to take you to the desired table.
