So I'm working on an AI character concept and I'm faced with the dilemma of how to apply the lifestyle costs (to maintain and upgrade a home device) without too much handwaving.  After all, it's a bit hard to install the latest set of chips in your deck when you don't have hands...

Obviously, one could have a Contact with the Hardware skill at a good level and you just pay them to do it - hop into your back-up 'link while your home device is in the mail, and be done with it.  Though that leaves you open should anyone connect you and your Contact together.

I was thinking that maybe the Renraku Job-A-Mat, with a Hardware Autosoft, would be a better choice, since all you have to do is pay for the parts and let the Job-A-Mat do the work.  I would think that some version of this should be available, since it would make sense to have one even in a regular electronics shop for routine work.

Thoughts?

I'm prone to the Evo Proletarian, but the JAM works just as well.

Yeah, the Pro has limbs and can move around while the JAM just sits in one place. Pro's the better choice for keeping things repaired, the JAM's better for stationary tasks.

I just use the I-Doll.

Also an option! The iDoll is a tad expensive, but, it has plenty of other uses, so it can be a good investment.

I feel like this thread is on verge of become a some kind crazy AI discussion about which type of soy processor is more comfortable to live in.

Aztechnology's, of course.  That POS thing that NeoNET claims is great is cramped and angled in all the wrong processors.

The Azzie version's never workd right, IMHO. They have excellent corn-tech, and their algae-shapers were the best of the best until Sirrurg flattened Puerto Rico, but for soy, you can never go wrong with Renraku, I think.

That the best rice steamers are made by Shiawase cannot be doubted, however.
