Hey chummers,

I'm about to play a face for the first time and I'd like to get some advice on the build.  General discussion on being an augmented face is welcome as well as character specific critiques.

First things first, here's the google drive link for the character sheet.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3Sx8TDkQEn4VlVGOUlhOVdNTTg

My group has a lot of social skills, but they lack a pure face and a lot of direction.  Not only that but two of them have aura so they're pretty distinctive, meaning they can't really show their face twice.  So the plan for this guy is to be a social infiltrator that soaks up as much information as possible just by existing.  He can then use his R3 agent to collate the data into maps, schematics, and dossiers to plan a shadowrun for the crew.  This campaign will mostly be white collar heists due to the nature of our team (Charisma tradition summoner, charisma tradition mysad, and a bounty hunter street sam with social skills).  Additionally I'm starting with 17 extra karma, Work for the Man/People is in effect, and the negative qualities are non-negotiable for backstory reasons.

The big questions are:
  • Resources A + Skills B vs Skills A + Resources B?
  • Metatpe D: Human or Elf?
  • Current pistols loadout vs cyberarm ingram?
  • Where do I invest post-gen karma?  Decker, Rigger, or Pure Face?
  • Any cyberware I'm missing for data collection?

I appreciate any advice, thanks in advance chummers.[/list]

Human (or Elf) Mundane Face, Resources A, Skills B, Stats C, Metatype D, Magic E.

Stats Charisma 6, Intuition&Reaction are next, Agility of whatever you can.  Body 3, Willpower 3, Logic, Str as low as you can.  Use Karma to fix the worse offenders.

Skills: 5 Group Skill points into either Acting or Influence.  Rest of desired Social skills at 6 with appropriate specializations.  Favorite Gun at 6, Sneak (Urban), Perception at what you can.

Augmentations; Used Tailored Phermones 3, Mnemonic Enhancers, Data Jack, and consider some combat mods.  Smartlink, Initiative and Agility mods.  It's pretty easy to wind up with a Samurai Lite as a Face if you want.

Positive Qualities: Alibi and First Impression are pretty solid as is Trustworthy.  Bio-Compatibility (Cyberware) also recommended.

Optional: Novacoke and Narco.

Gear; Mortimers of London Armor, accept no substitutes.

Edit: Elf v Human; Human has 5 Edge so can fix bad dice rolls.  Elf has a +2 to about every roll so you'll have a few less bad rolls to edge.  Honestly it's a wash mechanically, pick for flavor.

Thanks for the advice!

For stats would you switch REA for LOG if you want to be a secondary decker?  I currently have 3 Reaction and 5 Logic because I want to grow my dude into being a decker.  Are hacking skills worth the time and investment, or would I never be good enough to really matter? (I've also never played a decker)

I'm not seeing Alibi anywhere, which book is it from?

Also great tip on the Mortimers, I didn't realize they actually gave bonus dice when wireless was on.

And I didn't even know Narco existed but it seems really cool, I'll try to make room for that genemod.

Honestly, it will be much easier if you start as a decker. Deckers need a metric ton of skills and gear, while faces just want a decent CHA and Negotiation+Con. Give me an hour or two and I'll try to put something together.

Profiler might be a nice quality for that build, as social limit is pretty easy to boost so the downside isn't apt to bite you much.

I chose Zoé over of Mortimer of London because people don't usually wear longcoats indoors (or do they?)

Wow thank you!  I wasn't sold on switching to decker but that looks phenomenal.  I especially like how you did the attributes, maxing charisma and putting LOG at 5 with the cerebral boosters to put it above chargen max.

Also good point about the greatcoat lol, most of the time there will probably be a coat closet at any upper crust function.

I made a mistake. You would have to lose more essence if you absolutely want to have Cyberpsychosis. Switching some ware to Used grade and buying a little extra (bone lacing maybe?) should help.

EDIT: Alright, I tweaked the 'ware a bit. Red is Used grade, the rest is Standard grade. New essence = 0.34, new nuyen = 195, and you got a new skin and Forearm Guards! That means that you should usually have 18 armor on you (suit+forearm guards), which is nice.
