Is the "ignore" function working as intended?
« on: (17:31:07/12-02-15) »
I have noticed for some time now that I can still see every post and thread made by people who are on my ignore list.... is this intentional?
I thought the sole reason of an ignore function was to STOP seeing posts and threads made by people you don't want to have any contact with....
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

This was the very topic I was about to start a new thread on.  It doesn't seem to be working for me, either.

Just for the sake of testing, I have put Reaver on ignore just to see what is happening.

I can still see all his posts, yes even THOSE posts, you know the ones.......

@Reaver: when you get a chance send me a PM and post here as well when you do so we can see if the ignore is blocking PMs.

Might just be someone has turned off the function during a reset or update.
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Yep. It blocks PMs.

Just tried to send Sendaz a message as requested... and it tells me that Sendaz has me ignored and can't recieve messages from me....

So that's something I guess.... now if it would only filter out posts made by those on our ignore lists so we are not constantly reminded WHY we ignored those people to start with....

*removes block*
Welcome back Reaver :D

Well at least we know that some of the feature works still.

Well, thank both of you for your testing here.  If all it does is block PMs, that seems like a pretty wimpy Ignore feature.  I'm hoping that the site admin just forgot to implement the Ignore setting, as Sendaz suggested.

It shows they posted, but you have to click on something to see what the post actually is.

Exact wording: "You are ignoring this user. Show me the post."

You can actually ignore it or click the 'Show me the post.' to see it.

That's what we're trying to achieve, but it's not working for us.  How are you managing to pull this off?  When we put someone on our Ignore lists, we can still see their posts.  Is there a second step we need to take as well?

Well, I can still see the posts of the person I've put on my Ignore List, so I'm not sure what you're doing that I'm not.

Yea....

That's NOT what is happening for me either. I still see every post made by the people on my ignore list.

I don't even get the notification that they are 'ignored' or an 'option' to see their posts, I just see them.

Found it

Go to Profile > Look and Layout > click box next to Hide messages posted by members on my ignore list.

Now it should hide posts by the person, though you can still read them by clicking to read as All4 said.

Likewise you can go to Profile > Personal Messaging to accept PMs from everyone or everyone except ignore list and so on.

Not sure why that might have reset for some people.

Yep.

That appears to have been the issue for me. You would think something like that would be automatic....

Guess not.

That's probably going to be controlled by whatever theme you are using.  Theme's got jumbled a while back when they were working with the censoring filters (to change swear words to SR styled swear words to much comedic effect as the filters were... well, regex is hard folks).  Would bet that that's when some of these types of settings got checked/unchecked.

That did it!  Thanks much!  And yes, you'd think that would be an automatic with any Ignore feature.
